When To Give Up Writing

Have you read Phill Barron's latest post, entitled The Starving Artist? No? Go there now, I command thee.

  1. Yep, he's serving up some sense pie there and I've helped myself to a large slice.

  3. Phill Barron, eh? I've never seen one man engage in so much frenzied self-abuse.

  4. That's a useful reality check.

The lastest BBC scheme attracted 1200 qualified applicants for 6 entry level positions. So the average wannabe has maybe 1 chance in 200 of even getting a shot.

Screenwriting is not a sane career choice in the UK.

  5. I think I'm going to stick to my blog and give the rest up. And I might even give the blog up too. It's my own fault, I shouldn't have clicked on 101reasonstostopwriting.com/

    Maybe I'll take up gardening.

  6. Hi; I just left a comment on your post about a Dr. Who audio book featuring the 11th Doctor and then remembered posting here about giving up writing. Well, just to confirm, as I did in the other comment, I'm still writing and making short films and I'm on twitter too. I saw your tweet retweeted by someone I'm following. Small world, the internet.
